Prestige Collection XXXI - Lies Cosijn, container from the Roma series

Lies Cosijn is in her work often expressing the abuses in the world. In the Roma series she defends the situation of gipsys in Romania.  This expressive piece of art, a hollow two-pieces open container, is part of this Roma series. In this two-pieces artwork the shape and the image are equivalent. One can speak of into one another going elements.

Slab built container, the hollow and flat human figures are posed in a dynamic way. The two pieces have on both sides a 'sinterengobe' decoration. Stoneware, handmolded.

A comparable piece in the collection J.W.N. van Achterbergh. This piece is depicted at the cover of the monography "Compassie en Poëzie, Ceramiek van Lies Cosijn" (2002).
